Test, Report and Maintain

Suncoast Asphalt is seeking to appoint aLaboratory Technicianfor their laboratory located in Brisbane's northern suburb of Narangba. We are seeking an asphalt field technician to carry out coring of asphalt, sand patch testing and straight edge testing, plus aggregate sampling from quarries when needed. This role would be suitable for an experienced technician in the asphalt industry or someone in the concrete/geotechnical testing field looking to try something different. The team are also willing to train candidates that are new to the industry if you are keen and willing to learn.

In your new role, you will:

  • Carry out a wide range of testing for construction materials such as asphalt and aggregates

  • Undertake testing results analysis and interpretation

  • Carry out equipment calibrations

  • Setting up and maintaining of equipment

  • Assist the technical team

This role is a great fit for you, if you have:

  • Proven success in a technical or laboratory environment

  • Ability to work flexible hours including night shift and weekends as required

  • Ability to work under pressure and problem solve

  • Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques preferred, but not essential

  • Have knowledge of laboratory set up & calibration requirements preferred, but not essential

  • 2 years' experience in Construction Materials Testing or similar field preferred, but not essential

  • Excellent Health and Safety behaviours

  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills (written & verbal) withexcellent attention to detail

  • A valid driver's license

  • An ability to take ownership and manage your own area of responsibility without close supervision
