About The Role

Due to continuing strong growth, we have a great opportunity for a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join our Melbourne team. As a key member of our HSEQ team, you will be responsible for:

Responsibilities
  • Educate site workers on hazard identification, promoting the See Say Do process to identify hazards early and reduce incidents.
  • Carry out project consultation processes including site inductions, pre-start/toolbox meetings, and establishing effective safety committees where required.
  • Recommend corrective/preventive actions to prevent hazards from escalating into incidents.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective/preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Disseminate WHSE information across the project as required.
  • Assist with preparation, development and review of construction methodology and SWMS in consultation with project management, subcontractors and workers.
  • Conduct formal weekly HSE inspections and daily work-in-progress inspections to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Review on-site work practices, materials, plant and equipment to identify WHSE hazards.
  • Support the Return to Work Coordinator by ensuring Return to Work Plans are in place and managed for injured workers.
  • Review permits to work and ensure compliance with legal, organizational and WHSE requirements.
Qualifications / About You
  • Minimum of 2 years' operational experience in a HSE Advisor role or similar.
  • Working knowledge of WHS Act, Regulations, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards and their application in the construction industry.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills on a technical level.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise key activities.
  • Commitment to a culture of safety and care, honesty and integrity, customer focus, teamwork and performance excellence.
  • Permanent resident of Australia.
