**The opportunity**

**As Our Principal Scientist, You Will**

  • Initiate, lead, and participate in the development and management of collaborative research project proposals at State, National, and International levels in the areas of wood-based composites, forest product manufacture, performance testing, preservation, and protection systems.
  • Provide high-level advice and build knowledge in wood science, focusing on wood-based composites manufacture, mechanical performance, bio-deterioration, material protection, wood preservation, and product durability.
  • Identify emerging research trends, technologies, and investment opportunities to ensure the future profitability and sustainability of the forest industries amidst land use competition, climate variability, and change.
  • Influence industry adoption of new technologies and practices, providing solutions and products to promote profitable investments in sustainable forest resources and timber processing in Queensland.
  • Prepare and review peer-reviewed publications, reports, and technical documents; deliver presentations at conferences and industry forums.
  • Manage projects efficiently, overseeing budgets and resource allocation, and adopting new methodologies to maximize quality and efficiency.
  • Create a collaborative working environment within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Supervise, train, and performance-manage staff or work independently as required.

**Qualifications and Experience**

  • A relevant Science Degree.
  • A current "C" class driver's license.
