Role Description

As a Technical Consultant, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise, guidance, and support to clients across various industries. Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, the Technical Consultant will troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, and network issues to ensure smooth and efficient operations across the organisation. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills, strong developing technical knowledge, and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to users via phone, email, chat, or in person.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network incidents promptly and effectively.
• Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, software applications, and peripheral devices.
• Assist with the setup and configuration of new user accounts, email accounts, and access permissions.
• Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as system updates, patches, and backups.
• Accurately identify when to escalate an incident and follow the escalation process.
• Develop and maintain documentation, including technical specifications, user manuals, and support guides.
• Record all time and support activities in supplied tools to contribute to accurate invoicing and profitability measuring of clients.
• Collaborate with other members of the IT team to resolve complex technical issues and implement solutions.
• Contribute to the implementation of new IT systems and infrastructure to improve our clients' environments.
• Provide training and guidance to users on IT systems, applications, and best practices.
• Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in IT support to enhance knowledge and skills.

Qualifications & Experience

• Certificate III/IV in Information Technology, diploma or bachelor's degrees in related fields advantageous.
• Relevant certifications such as ITIL foundations, networking (Cisco, Forti or CheckPoint) or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals.
• Other relatable learnings such as ITIL, Prince and PMP are looked upon favourably.
• Desire for candidates with junior experience in IT support or a similar role, preferably in a corporate or MSP environment.

Skills/Knowledge/Attributes

• Strong base technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, Office 365, and common productivity software.
• Familiarity with networking concepts, protocols, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Experience with desktop, laptop or server hardware troubleshooting and repair is desirable.
• Experience with server and backup infrastructure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users effectively.
• Strong developing problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work outside regular business hours and participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support as needed.
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
