Role: Lifeguard for the public sector
Contract Length: 9 months from 01/10/2025
Location: Dartmouth, Devon. Mon–Thu 1000-1800. Friday is a non-working day.
Pay Rate: £12.21 per hour
Responsibilities- When on pool duty the Civilian Swimming Pool Attendant, in their capacity of duty lifeguard, is responsible for supervising the pool, identifying, preventing and reporting any potential dangers and dealing with any incidents that occur.
- They must fully be conversant with and sign annually the BRNC Swimming Pool Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and Normal Operating Procedures (NOP's).
- Supervision of the Swimming Pool and other areas within the facility. When the pool facility is open and should the facility uplift to two civilian pool attendants, they must always remain in the building ensuring that the whereabouts of the other lifeguard is known.
- To sign out and return the building keys from Arthur Harrison VC building, ensuring that a thorough lock up routine is conducted at the end of each day.
- Cleaning duties as directed by the Swimming Pool Manager.
- To ensure the safety and good conduct of Swimming Pool Users.
- To patrol the poolside, changing and ancillary areas as directed by the Swimming Pool Manager.
- To report immediately to the Swimming Pool Manager any defects, safety hazards or deficiencies likely to render any equipment/area unsafe.
- To effect prompt Rescue/Resuscitation First Aid by applying Royal Lifeguard Saving Society UK taught standard emergency procedures.
- To ensure the correct setting up and taking down of equipment to maximise efficiency of the activities programme.
- The Swimming Pool Attendant must maintain an acceptable level of fitness.
- Ensure the poolside is kept clean and tidy throughout the day.
- Compile swimming pool usage logs as required.
- Liaise with the Swimming Pool Manager regarding the timing of repairs and specific requirements.
- Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance wearing the RLSS Lifeguard uniform when on duty.
- Conduct the Inclusion in the Civil Service-annual mandatory training.
- Experienced Pool Lifeguard with National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
- Strong Communication Skills
