Redefine the embedded Linux experience with the smallest, most secure, and most reliable operating system in the IoT market. This is an opportunity for a technical engineering manager passionate about open source software, Linux, containers, security, and the developer experience, to shape the future of Linux from the smallest systems up to desktops. This challenging role demands a high degree of technical and management skill.

Our mission is to enable everyone to build robust solutions across various fields including IoT, automotive, and aviation using the next-generation secure embedded Linux OS. We focus on reliable device recovery mechanisms to simplify and standardize field operations for heterogeneous device fleets.

As an engineering manager, you'll lead a team of talented software developers to design and implement Ubuntu Core system software on CPU architectures like ARM, RISC-V, and x86. You will meet stakeholders, prioritize requests, plan the roadmap, and ensure team delivery. You will influence culture, facilitate technical delivery, and work on strategy and execution.

What you'll do
  1. Build and lead a distributed team through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development.
  2. Contribute directly to your team's goals demonstrating sound engineering principles.
  3. Support timely delivery of technical solutions to meet business needs.
  4. Set and manage expectations with engineering teams, management, and external stakeholders.
  5. Promote modern, agile software development practices and evangelize engineering excellence.
  6. Cultivate a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.
  7. Participate actively in leadership, collaborating with other leaders.
  8. Work remotely with biannual travel for company events.
Who you are

  5. Skilled in leading, managing, and coaching developers.
  6. Capable of planning and executing high-quality, timely software delivery.
  7. Experienced in agile development environments.
  8. Holds a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or related fields.
  9. Experienced with embedded software.
  10. Proficient in Golang, C/C++, Shell scripting.
  11. Solid understanding of Linux, preferably Debian or Ubuntu.
