Asset Management Technical Developer — Bureau of Meteorology

Position overview

The Bureau's asset management system underpins the effective lifecycle management of a diverse and geographically dispersed portfolio of critical infrastructure and equipment. The Asset Management Technical Developer will play a key role in the ongoing development, enhancement, and technical support of the Bureau's Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system, primarily focusing on IBM Maximo and Maximo Mobile platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement technical solutions to improve asset management processes and system functionality, including customising applications, automations, escalations, and reports to meet evolving business requirements.
  • Troubleshoot issues, manage product fixes in partnership with vendors, and ensure the system remains robust and aligned with best practices.
  • Provide technical coaching, training, and clear documentation to enable adoption of asset management solutions across the organisation.
  • Collaborate with asset owners, subject matter experts, and vendors to ensure Maximo solutions support strategic asset management goals.
  • Participate in system upgrades, testing, and integration activities to deliver enhancements that improve efficiency, data integrity, and decision-making.
  • Initially focus on the Bureau's observing network assets portfolio, with potential to expand to other asset classes (property, ICT, software) to strengthen asset management capability.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in Maximo development and configuration.
  • Strong understanding of asset management processes and enterprise systems.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and documentation; capable of training users and stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating with vendors and cross-functional teams.
Base pay range

A$115,443.00/yr - A$125,832.00/yr
