Overview

Join to apply for the University of Oxford: Researcher role at International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity.

Location: Oxford. The position is based in the Gibson Building, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG, with the option for a regular remote work pattern, as agreed with the line manager.

About the role

The successful applicant will work on the co-design of a policy tool called a Nutrient and Environment Profiling Model (NEPM) to support national and local policies for healthy, sustainable diets. This new research hub, THRIVING Food Futures, is led by Professor Peter Scarborough at the University of Oxford with collaborators at City, St George's, University of London, Queen Mary University of London, the Universities of Cambridge, Strathclyde and Warwick, and Sustain. It is a space for academics, policymakers and the public to co-design work on healthy, sustainable diets and to engage communities, develop tools and metrics, enhance understanding of relevant policy, and develop and evaluate interventions.

Responsibilities
  • Develop algorithms to identify healthy and/or sustainable foods.
  • Test these algorithms against the subjective judgments of a working group of policymakers.
  • Present easily accessible results at project meetings and in reports.
Qualifications
  • PhD in population health or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills.
  • Experience on projects related to healthy and/or sustainable diets.
Contract details
  • Two-year initial appointment, funded by UKRI Building a Green Future, NIHR, EPSRC, MRC and NERC.
  • Salary range: £38,674 to £43,171 per annum.
  • Employment type: Full-time; Seniority level: Mid-Senior level.
  • Location: Oxford, with possible remote work as agreed.
