Join Canterbury-Bankstown Council as a Graduate Town Planner to support development assessment and community engagement in a diverse Sydney community.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing planning and development information through Council's Duty Planner service.
  • Preparing assessment reports and determinations on development applications and subdivision certificates.
  • Undertaking site inspections and preparing supporting documentation.
  • Coordinating internal and external stakeholder feedback on development matters.
  • Responding to enquiries at the customer service counter, via email, and by phone.
  • Meeting statutory and Council timeframes and contributing to the delivery of efficient development services.
About You

The company is looking for:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning (or nearing completion).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of relevant Acts, statutory planning processes, and customer service delivery.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and professionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Class C Driver's Licence.

Desirable: Knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and prior experience in local government or development assessment.

  • Starting salary of $71,819 (Grade D, Step 1) plus 12% superannuation.
