Engineering Geologist/Geotechnical Engineers (1 to 3 years experience)

Opportunities exist for entry level engineering geologists and / or geotechnical engineers to join a well established geotechnical consultancy providing expert engineering geology and geotechnical engineering services.

Working on large scale mining projects from conception to operation and all stages in between, for significant infrastructure projects from ore processing facilities, non processing infrastructure, corridors (rail, roads, conveyors, power transmission and pipelines) and port developments and expansions.

• Conduct geotechnical site investigations including desktop studies, engineering geological mapping and logging, supervision of ground investigation programmes including geotechnical drilling, test pitting, bulldozer costeans, geophysical surveys, and site trials and insitu testing.

• Review and / or develop laboratory testing programmes for rock and soil samples.

• Review and collate engineering geological and geotechnical data.

• Analyse / provide input to the analyses of the stability of slopes in cuttings (through rock and soil) and embankments, foundations including provide recommendations on appropriate foundation systems, pavements for roads, rail earthworks and airstrips and identification of sources of the various types of fill required for projects.

• Provide construction and operation support including application of the Observational Method, earthworks and ground stabilisation construction and performance (both over time and following "events" which have impacted them).

• Write technical reports including factual, interpretative and site observation reports.

To be successful for the position you must have:

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering Geology / Geological Engineering / Geotechnical Engineering.

• Knowledge of AS1726 requirements.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with a wide range of project personnel.

• A full WA drivers licence (or eligibility to obtain).

• Ability to travel to site, often on short notice.
