Overview

Responsibilities and qualifications for an Endpoint Specialist / Endpoint Security Specialist at TikTok USDS. The role focuses on administering and maintaining workstations, designing VDI solutions, and providing expert-level support to ensure performance and security.

Responsibilities
  • Security and Compliance: implement security best practices, ensure regulatory compliance, deploy patches, enforce endpoint security policies, and stay updated on trends to address vulnerabilities.
  • VDI Design and Implementation: collaborate with clients to assess VDI needs, implement and configure VMware Horizon View, and ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.
  • Infrastructure Optimization: monitor VDI for performance, troubleshoot virtualization issues, and perform capacity planning.
  • Documentation and Training: maintain workstation configuration docs and provide training and knowledge transfer.
  • Technical Expertise: knowledge of App Volumes, Dynamic Environment Manager, Horizon TrueSSO, and Unified Access Gateways.
  • Client Interaction: build relationships, understand evolving IT needs, and propose solutions.
  • Endpoint Support: configure and provision endpoints (computers, mobile devices, and IoT), ensure alignment with standards, and collaborate with IT Support to resolve endpoint issues.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of experience with Horizon virtual desktops; working understanding of end-user device management technologies (e.g., Workspace One, Apple Business Manager).
  • Strong knowledge of VMware Horizon View, vSphere, VMware Cloud on AWS; advanced experience with Windows desktop OS; knowledge of AWS services (EC2, VPC, ELB, Route 53, RDS, IAM).
  • Solid knowledge of automated provisioning of end-user devices; excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; strong communication for client interactions.
  • Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS) and networking concepts.
    • Preferred Qualifications: scripting (PowerShell) for automation; familiarity with cloud-based VDI solutions; VMware certifications (VCP-DTM, VCAP-DTM); strong knowledge of Windows, macOS, iOS, Android internals; understanding of UEM (Apple Business Manager, Android for Work, Intune).
