Overview

Fujitsu is seeking a skilled VMware Engineer to join the on-site IT Infrastructure team in Sydney, Australia. The role supports and optimizes the virtual infrastructure that underpins critical business operations, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure stability, scalability, and high availability of the VMware environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, and virtual machines.
  • Configure and maintain VMware High Availability (HA), DRS clusters, and resource pools.
  • Conduct performance tuning, system optimization, and capacity planning.
  • Manage VM lifecycle tasks including provisioning, snapshots, templates, and cloning.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure using vRealize, SolarWinds, or similar tools.
  • Integrate VMware platforms with SAN/NAS storage and virtual network configurations.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and backup strategies using native and third-party tools.
  • Ensure infrastructure compliance with internal policies and industry regulations.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of systems, processes, and change management records.
  • Provide expert support and consultation to internal IT and business stakeholders.
Requirements and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience managing VMware infrastructure.
  • Proficient in VMware vSphere 6.x/7.x/8.x, vSAN, and VMware Cloud solutions.
  • Strong background in Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, and core networking (DNS/DHCP).
  • Scripting experience in PowerShell or Python for automation tasks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across virtual, storage, and network layers.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV) or higher.
  • ITIL Foundation or Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSE).
  • Experience working within financial services or regulated IT environments.
  • 3 Months contract.
