The Role
Defence is seeking outstanding leaders to undertake Finance Business Partnering Roles to deliver and drive financial stewardship across Defence. Defence Finance Group (DFG) is undertaking a bulk Executive Level 2 (EL 2) recruitment round for various vacancies throughout the Financial Performance and Management (FP&M) Division.
Duties of the positions include but are not limited to:
- Providing leadership and direction to ensure a high-level of integration and consistency across the Defence financial management function.
- Providing strategic financial analysis and options to senior stakeholders that relates to the planning and delivery of large and complex budgets. Undertake detailed financial risk assessment as pertaining to large organisations.
- Build, retain and lead a high performing team, through clear and consistent communication, strong performance and behavioural standards, delegating responsibility whilst guiding and developing people.
- Translating financial management strategies into operational goals and creating a shared sense of purpose within business units.
- Building and sustaining relationships with stakeholders and subject matter experts to deliver financial management outcomes.

FP&M Division delivers financial advice and performance reporting to Groups and Services, Ministers and other government departments, across all Defence programs and activities including workforce, capital, sustainment and operating budgets.
FP&M Division consists of over 470 staff working in seven branches (including a Capability Costing branch), with embedded finance staff across the country working closely with business areas. Principally, the Division is responsible for delivering financial management information and advice to ensure Defence leaders can make well-informed decisions. Think big numbers, many complex projects running in parallel, and close public scrutiny requiring carefully managed finances.
