The Role

Compass Group Australia is seeking a Senior Indigenous Engagement & Inclusion Advisor for two part-time roles: one permanent (4 days/week) and one fixed-term (4 days/week) for maternity leave coverage.

In this role, you will lead and implement the Indigenous Engagement & Inclusion Framework, providing strategic leadership, expert guidance, and operational support to embed inclusive practices. As a key member of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) team, you will work closely with leaders and teams to foster a culture of inclusion, respect, and accountability, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and legal requirements.

Role Purpose & Contribution

  1. Lead and implement Indigenous Engagement & Inclusion initiatives across all CGA business sectors.
  2. Provide thought leadership, strategic advice, and coaching to senior leaders, ensuring Indigenous engagement is operationally embedded.
  3. Collaborate with Executives, General Managers, and senior management to drive sustainable improvements in Indigenous engagement and inclusion performance.
  4. Act as a trusted senior advisor, offering high-level strategic input and project management expertise.
  5. Work closely with operations, recruitment, shared services, and external partners to drive meaningful engagement and talent retention.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide high-level advice, coaching, and support to leaders on Indigenous engagement strategies.
  2. Champion inclusive workplace practices and drive organisational change.
  3. Develop and implement Indigenous engagement strategies to attract and retain diverse talent.
  4. Lead compliance efforts to uphold Indigenous engagement policies and initiatives.
  5. Partner with internal and external stakeholders, clients, peak agencies, and Indigenous communities to enhance engagement initiatives.
  6. Represent CGA in the Compass Group Global DE&I network, sharing best practices.
  7. Engage with business development teams to integrate Indigenous engagement into bids, tenders, and sales proposals.
  8. Oversee strategic projects such as Reconciliation Action Plans (RAP), Goolyara Bidi, and DE&I Strategy.
  9. Drive improvements based on insights from Indigenous Employment Index, People Pulse, and AWEI surveys.
  10. Deliver high-quality reports and insights to support business growth and DE&I progress.

The Person

  1. HR degree or similar qualification OR minimum 5 years' experience in DE&I and Indigenous Engagement.
  2. Proven track record in providing strategic Indigenous engagement advice and leadership.
  3. Strong project management, governance, and compliance expertise.
  4. Experience partnering with People teams, business leaders, and external Indigenous communities.
  5. Ability to guide senior leaders and influence without direct authority.
  6. Strong stakeholder engagement across business sectors and communities.
  7. Understanding of business operations and how DE&I initiatives drive performance.
  8. Ability to develop solutions and drive continuous improvement.
  9. Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate strategies and insights.
