Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the 2027 AGGP Data stream, you must:

  • BeanAustraliancitizenatthetimeofapplication
  • Have completed at least an Australian Qualifications Framework Level 7 qualification (a Bachelor degree), or higher equivalent by 31 December 2025
  • Havecompletedyourmostrecenteligiblequalificationbetween1January 2021to 31 December 2025
  • BeabletoobtainandmaintainavalidAustralianGovernmentsecurityclearanceifrequired
  • Bewillingtoundergoanypolice,character,health,orotherchecksrequired.

Participating agencies may have additional eligibility requirements for placement with their agency. Suitable candidates should discuss this with the agency, if an offer is received.

Skills you need

To be suitable for a Data Graduate role, you should have most or all of the following skills:

  • Proficient data skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical and problem-solving skills.

Locations

Most positions are available in Canberra, as well as Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney.

A limited number of positions may be available in Darwin, Geelong, Hobart, Newcastle and Townsville.

Roles are full-time, with potential for flexible work arrangements depending on your placement agency.

Managed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), this Data Stream recruits more than 250 graduate roles across the Australian Government and Commonwealth agencies.
