Senior Content Writer

Checkbox is a Sequoia-backed technology start-up with a mission to enable meaningful work for all. Recently, we expanded our offering to not only help people do meaningful work, but manage it too. This came with the launch of our AI-powered Matter Management product – the "JIRA for lawyers". This is part of our broader vision to be the "Legal Service Hub" for organisations, responsible for how legal work is raised, allocated, managed, and resolved.

As the Senior Content Writer at Checkbox, you will be a key driver of our growth strategy, focusing primarily on SEO-driven content while also contributing to thought leadership and lead generation initiatives. You'll play a crucial role in shaping and maintaining our brand voice, ensuring high quality and consistency across all pieces of content.

This role is perfect for a creative yet analytical individual who is energised by the opportunity to build and contribute to the organisation's go-to-market strategy, culture, and success. You will be working closely with the Head of Marketing to achieve these goals.

In this position, you will:

• Content Creation: Produce diverse content, including blog articles, e-books and white papers, designed to drive traffic, generate leads, and support our growth strategy.
• SEO Strategy: Develop and implement SEO-focused content strategies to enhance search engine rankings and drive organic growth. Perform keyword research, optimize content for SEO, and stay updated on SEO best practices.
• Content Oversight: Lead the writing, editing, and proofreading of all content pieces to ensure high quality and consistency.
• Content Calendar Management: Assist in managing and executing a content calendar that aligns with growth objectives, ensuring timely and consistent content delivery.
• Research & Insights: Conduct in-depth research on legal and AI industry trends, competitors, and audience behaviour to create relevant and effective content.
• Collaboration for Growth: Work closely with digital, communications, and product marketing to ensure content aligns with broader growth initiatives and campaigns.
• At least 4+ years of experience in content writing with a strong focus on SEO and growth-oriented content strategies, preferably within the SaaS or legal industry.
• Proven track record of creating content that drives growth through SEO and lead generation.
• Strong understanding of SEO principles, keyword research, and content optimisation techniques.
• Ability to learn and master new topics and concepts quickly (especially if not already familiar with legal tech).
• Produce high-quality, engaging content efficiently under tight deadlines.
• Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to use content performance metrics to inform and refine strategies.
• Excellent research, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
• Passionate about leveraging content to drive business growth.
• Collaborates effectively with team members and demonstrates critical thinking beyond their own function.
• Ability to work independently, especially given that half the team, including the Head of Marketing, is based in the USA while the rest are in Sydney.

• Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and SEO tools.
• Experience working in or writing content related to law firms / in-house legal teams / legal technology.
• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Law, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
