About The Role

The Registrar / Principal House Officer (PHO) provides medical services under the supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist that are evidence-based, efficient, effective, and equitable to consumers within a public health setting. Registrar / PHOs are expected to acquire necessary skills and knowledge to satisfy the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and Australian Medical Board requirements to practice as a specialist.

Forensic and Secure Services provides specialist secure rehabilitation and forensic mental health services, including: High Security Inpatient Service (70 beds), Extended Forensic Treatment Rehabilitation Unit (20 beds), Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (34 beds), Prison Mental Health Services (9 Correctional Centres), General Health Service, and the Specialist Mental Health Intellectual Disability Service (SMHIDS). These services assess and treat individuals with mental disorders and criminal histories or risks.

Mandatory Requirements
  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine-preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16.
