Overview

We are seeking a Principal Planner – Business Lead to join our team at Yarra City Council. This new role has been created to improve the experience and timeframes for businesses who need a planning permit.

The successful candidate will be a suitably experienced statutory planner with a strong interest in supporting businesses and creating a positive impact. You will have the opportunity to show your leadership and change management skills in establishing a business-focused planning permit application stream in the Statutory Planning Unit.

You will be responsible for overseeing this new application stream, working with other planners and coordinators, and with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Our team is supportive and friendly, with a focus on growth and development. We value excellence and competitiveness in all aspects of our work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of the business-focused planning permit application stream
  • Collaboration with planners, coordinators, and stakeholders to deliver results
  • Leadership and change management in implementing new processes and procedures
  • Development and maintenance of effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Suitably experienced statutory planner with a strong interest in supporting businesses
  • Proven leadership and change management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and collaborative environment
