In this role, together with a Senior HR Business Partner, you'll support senior management in dedicated client groups to drive improvement in how we manage employee conduct and performance, and research and advise on other employee and industrial relations matters related to the OIR workforce.

About The Role

As a Principal Human Resources (HR) Business Partner in the OIR Human Resources team, you will provide expert business partnering services to support line managers and executives to respond efficiently and effectively to employee and industrial relations matters relating to OIR employees.

Reporting to the Manager Human Resources, you'll work closely with a Senior HR Business Partner, to ensure workplace investigations, employee grievances, and conduct and performance matters are well managed, and that senior management and all supervisors are well equipped to support their employees now and into the future.

You'll also work closely with Ethical Standards, Organisational Safety, Organisational Culture and Learning and Development units to coordinate case management activities and HR services for dedicated client groups. This role will also represent the OIR at the QIRC and in other forums, and attend meetings with external stakeholders such as investigators and Counsel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and business partnering with senior managers, particularly regarding complex and sensitive industrial and employee relations matters including organisational change.
  • Draw on business knowledge, workforce data and other information sources to identify, develop and implement long term strategies to address emerging workforce issues and build OIR workforce capability, staff engagement and culture.
  • Lead reviews and implementation of HR policies and procedures and facilitate training programs to OIR managers and employees to develop capability in positive performance management; employee engagement; case management.
  • Manage employee relations cases interpreting and applying public sector legislation, case law, directives, policies and agreements to manage complex and sensitive employee matters.
  • Lead and partner with Senior HR Business Partners and senior managers to ensure organisational change and transformation activities are undertaken in a way that meets obligations for consultation and other legislative requirements.
  • Support and advise senior managers in relation to conflict resolution, positive performance management, employee complaints and individual employee grievances, and conduct preliminary enquiries and workplace investigations, with outcomes that may include disciplinary action.
  • Educate, influence and coach internal stakeholders to implement HR strategy and guide effective HR management practice.
  • Collaborate and contribute to the effective delivery of HR solutions, including improving the use of HR metrics to inform and drive business improvement.

OIR Human Resources provides strategic and operational HR advice and services to OIR. We partner with the business to assist with developing workforce plans, managing people and positions, supporting positive performance management, career and succession planning, managing employee and industrial relations matters, applying HR related legislation, policies and procedures, making informed workforce management decisions and implementing workplace change.
