Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre is part of the Boroondara Leisure Facilities and is managed by YMCA Victoria. Running a variety of fitness programs to support your journey to a healthier lifestyle. The centre is home to five pools; an outdoor 25m Pool, Indoor 25m Pool, Hydrotherapy Pool, 2 spas, a toddler pool with a feature play slide and a sauna. Ashburton also has 2 basketball courts, a gym, creche and a café.

As Teacher in Charge you would be shift supervisor for the swimming lessons staff and space during class times. Your primary duties revolve around assessments and liaising with swimming lessons staff and patrons, including:

• Completing preschool and school age assessments regularly
• Communication with parents and school teachers in person and occasionally via phone and/or email
• Managing students progression through levels
• Ensuring all staff are fulfilling teaching requirements and expectations including OH&S
• Analyzing occupancy and classes on shift
• Using Perfect Gym software to move bookings, manage make ups, and more
• Microsoft Applications including Outlook, Excel, Word and Google Docs
• Assisting in parent enquiries
• Reporting to the Aquatic Coordinator and completing other duties as requested
• Directing parents and students to classes
• Overseeing set up and pack up of lessons

This is a Casual role with an hourly rate up to $40.41 + super.

You will be passionate about inspiring and developing water safety and swimming skills in children and young people. Experience in other teaching or coaching roles is a bonus but not necessary. Personal attributes such as patience, respect, and enthusiasm will take you far as a Swim Teacher In this role you will unlock the power of all children to be inspired by swimming, creating lifelong opportunities.

• Teacher of Swimming & Water Safety qualification
• First Aid and CPR certificates

• Teacher of Infants and Preschool Aquatics
• Teacher Developing Competitive Strokes or equivalent
• Teacher of Aquatics - Access and Inclusion
• Teacher of Adults
