Position: Managing Principal Solicitor (Property), Commercial Property and Technology
Responsibilities- Lead and develop a team of solicitors, fostering a collaborative, high‑performance culture.
- Manage significant property transactions, including purchases, sales, leasing, and advise on options for resolution of property‑related matters and disputes.
- Provide strategic, solutions‑focused legal advice and transactional representation on major public infrastructure developments and projects for government clients.
- Engage with senior stakeholders across departments and agencies, delivering practical advice that balances legal risk with client objectives and policy outcomes.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the Property Team and shape best practice in government property law.
- Contribute to business development, client engagement and service delivery across the Branch, including presentations and tender responses.
- Oversee workflow, performance standards, recruitment and training within the Property Team on an as‑needed basis.
- Extensive knowledge of real property law and experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts of sale, leases, development agreements and other land‑use agreements.
- Proven leadership and team management skills with a focus on mentoring and performance development.
- Ability to provide clear, concise, authoritative advice on sensitive and complex matters.
- High‑quality advisory skills: timely written and oral advice that meets client needs.
- Excellent interpersonal communication to connect with team members and deliver results for clients.
- Ability to develop and grow positive client relationships and identify new business opportunities strategically.
- Strong time management to handle competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Practical problem‑solving and research skills; responsive under pressure.
- Thorough understanding of government structures, policies and legal frameworks.
This role suits a experienced property lawyer with leadership experience and a track record of managing complex projects, delivering practical and accessible legal advice that aligns with client needs and policy objectives.
Salary and BenefitsVPS 6.2, $162,077 – 185,518 per annum plus superannuation (pro rata where applicable).
