Curious Minds is a values-driven paediatric practice that provides child-led, neuroaffirming support to children and their families. We believe that development thrives in safe, connected relationships, and our work is rooted in both evidence-based practice and a deep respect for each child's individual differences.
We support children across home, school, and community settings with a strong focus on functional outcomes, emotional wellbeing, and empowering caregivers through collaborative, culturally aware intervention. Our small, passionate team includes occupational therapists and allied health assistants, with weekly supervision and a commitment to ongoing learning and reflective practice.
At Curious Minds, we prioritise flexibility, autonomy, and a trauma-informed approach — not only in the way we support our clients, but also in how we nurture our team.
Location: South Western Sydney Area
Employment Type: Subcontractor | Flexible Hours | On-site/Home/Community Based
Role Description: Curious Minds is seeking an experienced and passionate Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our team in a flexible subcontractor capacity. This role offers autonomy, meaningful work, and weekly supervision in a supportive and reflective environment. You'll be working independently, but never in isolation — our team prioritises connection, collaboration, and shared learning.
As part of this role, you will support children in their natural environments — homes, schools, and community settings — using neuroaffirming, relationship-based, and developmentally appropriate therapy practices. You'll have the opportunity to shape your caseload, work at your own pace, and provide therapy that truly meets children and families where they are.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 therapy sessions tailored to each child's goals, sensory profile, and developmental stage
- Conduct assessments and develop individualised therapy plans in collaboration with families
- Implement sensory integration strategies and early intervention techniques
- Monitor client progress and adapt therapy approaches as needed
- Complete accurate and timely documentation, including session notes, progress reports, and recommendations
- Collaborate with families, schools, and other professionals to support holistic outcomes
- Provide parent coaching and guidance on home-based strategies
- Manage your own caseload and calendar
- Participate in weekly supervision and team reflection sessions
Qualifications:
- Degree qualification in Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, or Psychology
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Minimum 2 years paediatric clinical experience
- Proven ability to work independently with confidence and clinical soundness
- ABN and professional indemnity/public liability insurance
- Current Working With Children Check and National Police Check
- Access to a reliable vehicle and valid driver's licence
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A warm, collaborative, and child-led approach to therapy
- Familiarity with NDIS documentation and standards
- Experience working with neurodivergent children and families
- Training or interest in trauma-informed practice and sensory integration
- Confidence in delivering therapy in natural environments (home/school)
- Interest in working with culturally diverse communities and families
Seniority level: Mid-Senior level
Job function: Health Care Provider
Industries: Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists
