Base pay range

A$140,000.00/yr - A$180,000.00/yr

Location: Melbourne, 2 Days in the office

Salary: Up to $180k + super (depending on experience)

Team: Of Four work with - wider team are all ex-REA, Zendesk, SEEK, Redbubble, AWS etc

About the Role

We're building a small but impactful Engineering Uplift Team with a clear mission: to make systems across the Group more reliable, secure, understandable, and cost-effective.

You'll partner with two of our sister companies, working directly with their engineering teams to:

  • Fix legacy systems and reduce technical debt
  • Establish strong ticket hygiene and incident response processes
  • Guide architecture and cost optimisation (many systems are more expensive than they should be)
  • Lead migration from old-school data centers to cloud-native environments

This is not greenfield work. Think of it as rebuilding Sydney Harbour Bridge while traffic is still crossing it. It's messy, high-stakes, and rewarding.

What You'll Do
  • Get hands-on with legacy platforms: .NET, C#, Windows stack, databases, APIs, EDI, FTP, transactional systems
  • Triage problems, prioritise fixes, and make pragmatic trade-offs
  • Uplift teams by coaching best practices and setting technical standards
  • Work across infrastructure, networking, and application layers - full-stack problem solving
  • Rotate between firefighting at one company and consultative coaching at another
  • Always put security and reliability first
About You

We're looking for someone who thrives on fixing hard problems in complex environments. You're calm under pressure, resilient with tricky personalities, and motivated by making systems better.

  • You don't get judgy about messy code (some of the authors are still in the building)

  • You're pragmatic and commercially aware (you know money matters)

  • You've got breadth and depth: hardware, software, networking, infrastructure, cloud migration, and large-scale transactional systems
  • You've repaired legacy systems at scale - not just small web apps
  • You're a functioning adult who can work independently but knows when to collaborate
