This is an opportunity to join the Octopus Australia team in our Sydney office. The successful applicant will be able to join the Octopus Investments Australia team on their mission to accelerate Australia's transition to a future powered by renewable energy.

The role of Finance Associate will sit in the finance team and support across the Octopus Australia business, providing the successful candidate with wide exposure to various renewable asset investments, funds, and Octopus Australia as a fund manager. The role is based in Sydney, with occasional travel required between offices.

The successful candidate will be involved in the successful delivery of all financial aspects of the Octopus Australia Group. This role will report to the Financial Controller.

Octopus Investments Australia

Established in 2018, Octopus Australia is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team of over 55 highly skilled professionals, covering the expertise required to realize and operate a renewable energy and storage portfolio.

With an existing multi-GW portfolio of operating and developing assets, including solar, wind, and battery storage across Australia, the company continues to grow to deliver a long-term business that provides a firmed energy product to meet the evolving energy needs of Australia.

About the Role

Core responsibilities will include:

  • Regular management and KPI variance reporting
  • Assisting in the financial management of development, construction, and operating-stage renewable energy assets
  • Assisting in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial reports (with support from advisors)
  • Cashflow forecasting and funding requirement calculations
  • Managing external administrators and advisors to ensure statutory filings are met (including audited financials, tax returns, activity statements, FBT)
  • Managing bank accounts and payment processes
  • Assisting with financial compliance (e.g., AFSL) matters
Qualifications

Ideally, you will have some or all of the following qualifications, skills, and experiences:

  • Chartered Accountant (or equivalent) or nearing completion of the program
  • Familiarity with, or a genuine interest in, the renewable energy sector
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • An interest in implementing new technologies and leveraging digital applications

A background in public accounting or a similar industry role would be advantageous.
