Job DescriptionThe Team
The Hirer Acquisition team works cross-functionally, partnering with key stakeholders across upstream and downstream dependencies to deliver a seamless acquisition and wayfinding experience while strengthening hirer relationships. Strategic projects in pipeline for FY26 to create visibility and impact across the organisation.
The Role
A Lead Engineer is an entry-level people manager and senior member of our SEEK Group Engineering teams. A Lead Engineer provides in-team leadership and has a broad focus which primarily includes people management, team health, tech culture and cohesion, while also driving the delivery of software within product delivery/systems/platform teams and strengthening engineering quality. Whilst not the primary focus, you will still be responsible for writing clean, scalable, testable code and in ensuring high development practices and standards.
This role provides a unique opportunity to lead high-caliber engineers, drive the strategic direction of hirer journeys, and take ownership of the daily operations of a high-performing team
Responsibilities
As a Lead Engineer at SEEK, you will be an entry-level people manager and senior member of our Engineering teams. Your key responsibilities include:
- Provide in-team leadership, focusing on people management, team health, tech culture, and cohesion.
- Guide and mentor engineers in building, testing, deploying, and maintaining software from development through to production.
- Strengthen engineering practices, improve DevOps culture, and ensure platform health in terms of reliability, security, resilience, and efficiency.
- Build and operate highly scalable and performant software aligned with SEEK's technology strategy.
- Manage skill development, including secure system design and coding practices, ensuring team alignment to SEEK's security principles.
- Lead the wellbeing of the team by fostering safety, inclusivity, diversity, and engagement.
- Actively communicate with stakeholders and participate in Agile delivery rituals.
- Troubleshoot and manage production incidents, including on-call processes and incident reviews.
Skills and experience
- Proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, React, and AWS.
- Experience leading a team & technical outcomes within a software team
- Experience with CI/CD, cloud development, and API management.
- Strong mentorship and coaching skills for mid-level and senior engineers.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with geographically distributed teams and senior stakeholders.
- Experience working with both upstream and downstream distributed systems is a plus.
