DescriptionYou will lead a team expanding Aurora's electricity grid modelling capability across the Asia-Pacific region from our offices in Sydney/Melbourne. You will consult with clients, analyse energy markets and transmission systems, and present insights to enhance decision making. You will play an active role in client engagement including issue identification, hypothesis formation, analysis, and synthesising conclusions into recommendations.
The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with leadership experience in team environments. They will work in a dynamic environment that offers autonomy, influence over major decisions in the energy sector, and opportunities for professional growth under the guidance of experienced directors.
This position is suitable for candidates with at least 2 years of experience in a technical role within the power sector, preferably holding a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines such as Physics.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research and modelling of high-voltage transmission systems across the APAC region to support better energy transition analysis.
- Engage with clients through consulting engagements, performing power-flow analysis, and developing quantitative reports to inform decision making.
- Collaborate with our modelling team to quantify electrical engineering challenges and derive insights from model results.
- Contribute to product development by identifying new opportunities and expanding capabilities.
- Present findings to clients.
Required attributes:
- At least 2-4 years of experience in a technical role within the power sector.
- A first-class or high second-class degree from a top university in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines such as Physics.
- Demonstrated success in project management and taking responsibility in team environments.
- Ability to collect, analyse, and interpret complex quantitative data.
- Effective communication and cooperation skills.
- A self-starting entrepreneurial mindset and desire for business growth.
Desirable attributes:
- Previous experience in network/grid modelling, for example, with a transmission company, renewables developer, etc.
- Competence in advanced data analytics, e.g., Python, R, Matlab, Advanced Excel, GAMS.
- Leadership, project management, or mentoring experience demonstrated through previous roles of professional responsibility or extracurricular activities.
- Experience with power-flow modelling and interpreting single-line-diagrams (SLDs).
- Proficiency in languages other than English, especially Korean, Japanese, or other APAC languages.
