About the role
We are seeking a Security Lead who will be responsible for producing security documentation for the project and facilitating the security certification and accreditation of its systems. This role requires expertise in Defence security accreditation processes, network security, and government security frameworks.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Develop and maintain security documentation to support the certification and accreditation of project systems.
- Facilitate and manage the security accreditation process within Defence.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to assess security implications from high-level and detailed designs.
- Develop pragmatic solutions to minimise security risks while ensuring compliance with security frameworks.
- Work closely with certification consultants to ensure security documentation is fit for purpose.
- Participate in project meetings and collaborate with business and technical stakeholders.
- Provide security guidance in an environment with limited information and uncertainty.
Requirements and Experience:
- NV2 required (with a willingness to upgrade to TSPV), TSPV preferred.
- Strong background in network security and Defence security accreditation processes.
- In-depth knowledge of government security frameworks, including:
- Information Security Manual (ISM)
- National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
- Security Documentation Experience:
- Ability to develop and maintain key security documents, including:
- System Overview Document (SOD)
- Statement of Applicability (SOA)
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Security Risk Management Plan (SRMP)
- System Security Plan (SSP)
- Stakeholder Management & Communication:
- Ability to establish strong relationships with certification consultants and Defence stakeholders.
- Experience discussing security implications with both business and technical teams.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills to drive security outcomes.
- Strong analytical skills to assess security risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Effective planning and time management skills to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing individual responsibilities.
