As a Psychologist, you'll make a positive impact by:
  • Working as a part of a multidisciplinary team within a health centre setting supporting the diverse mental health needs of military members
  • Management of crisis presentations, risk assessment and risk management planning
  • Supporting ADF Members with their initial intake and assessment with flexibility to accommodate presenting need.
  • Case formulation and treatment planning
  • Programmatic treatment interventions
  • Care coordination
  • Group psycho-education

About ADF Health Services

In partnership with Bupa, our ADF Health Services team provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia.

This includes providing defence-ready clinical and support staff across 45+ on-base locations, ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care.

About Gaza Ridge Health Centre

The Gaza Ridge Health Centre is located on Gaza Ridge South at Bandiana near Wodonga. The Albury Wodonga Military Area consists of 3 barracks and is home to the Army's Logistic Training Centre, Joint Logistics Unit Victoria and Schooling in various areas. This is a large base providing services to over 5000 Defence Force members. The health centre provides primary medical, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmaceutical care. There is also a 20-bed low dependency ward which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The standard operating hours are 07:30 – 15:30 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts).

As a civilian Mental Health Professional working with the Australian Defence Force, you will deliver important clinical care to those who serve in the Army, Air Force, and Navy.

To Be Successful In This Role You'll Have
  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.
  • Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Minimum 2 years post graduate experience in the last 5 years in mental health in a primary health or specialist mental health setting undertaking comprehensive mental health assessment and delivering a range of evidence based 'Focussed Psychological Strategies' as defined under the Medicare Schedule.
  • Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.
  • Knowledge of relevant State/Territory policies and procedures and national standards governing mental health practice (desirable).
  • Knowledge of the ADF Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2018-2023 (desirable)

  • You must be an Australian Citizen to obtain the required Baseline Security Clearance for this role.
  • You don't need to be enlisted in the Defence Force to work as a civilian on-base and your job stays here, even if the Defence personnel you care for are deployed.
