Research Communications Officer

This role contributes to a variety of projects that increase the Centre's external presence across a range of audiences, including schools, government, and the community.
You will work closely with the ARC Centre Chief Operating Officer, Manager of Communications and Engagement, and Outreach and Partnerships Officer in seeking broader community exposure of the Centre's research outcomes and activities.
The position is situated with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society, a significant international, multidisciplinary and multi-institutional project.
About the Role:- Support the development and implementation of a strategic communications, outreach and engagement plan for the Centre.
- Coordinate the promotion of Centre research to government, industry and schools, using a range of digital communications channels.
- Contribute to the production, distribution and monitoring of media and social media content such as promotional videos, explainer videos, podcasts, interviews, and event recordings.
- Provide business and administrative support to the ARC Centre Chief Operating Officer and contribute to the Centre as part of the Operations team.
- A degree in a relevant field or extensive experience in relevant roles, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience or education/training.
- Demonstrated experience in program or events management and a commitment to the delivery of quality service to event participants.
- Strong skills in video production and editing, graphic design, and/or an up-to-date working knowledge of using social media in a professional and/or academic context.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills consistent with dealing with a diverse range of people and a commitment to quality service, including the ability to work as part of a small team.
- A high level of self-motivation and initiative and an ability to provide creative solutions to problems.
