Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Australian Physiotherapy Council Full time

We are looking for a Senior Policy Advisor to join our team on a part-time (0.6FTE) basis.

This is a newly created role that will report to the CEO and provide the policy strategic direction to ensure the safest and most ethical physiotherapist workforce. Initially commencing on a 12-month contract, this role may be made permanent.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advice and briefings on matters related to engagement with Commonwealth, state and territory governments and other external governance bodies as it relates to the Australian Physiotherapy Council (APC).
  • Conceptualise and develop advocacy strategies, campaign frameworks, issue resolution, funding and/or policy change proposals.
  • Work within a context of change and ambiguity and identify potential solutions.
  • Independently generate advocacy strategy and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support implementation.
  • Consult with members of a professional association, particularly with professionals who have a variety of experience and skills in public policy.
  • Rapidly appraise large volumes of information and derive critical issues for the physiotherapy workforce.
  • Liaise with high-level stakeholders and handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
About You

In addition to the above, you will have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in policy and/or public health.
  • An understanding of the current physiotherapy landscape both in Australia and nationally.
  • The ability to prioritise and work with minimal supervision (sound project management experience, including the ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in tight timeframes).
  • The ability to manage and enhance high-level relationships with Board Chair, Directors, CEO, Committee members, academics, and other external professionals.
  • Flexibility and responsiveness in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience with not-for-profit organisations (would be an advantage).
  • A strong alignment with the values and culture of APC.
About Us

The Australian Physiotherapy Council is the only accreditation authority for overseas qualified physiotherapists. We empower overseas physiotherapy candidates to confidently navigate the process by providing a trusted, responsive service, delivered by fantastic people. We ensure the highest standards to guarantee Australia has safe and ethical physiotherapy practitioners.

APC also provides accreditation to Australian higher education entry-level physiotherapy programs. The Council has delegated authority from the Physiotherapy Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (Ahpra) as the only accreditation authority for physiotherapy practitioner programs in Australia.

We are a for-purpose, values-based organisation.

What We Offer

A strong people-focused culture that values relationships and well-being. Free onsite parking, Christmas close down, gifted leave, annual staff retreat, and annual salary review. Subject to eligibility: income protection insurance and annual bonus.

In May we will be moving to our new, state-of-the-art premises in Hawthorn.

How to Apply

We invite Expressions of Interest (EOI) to be submitted by 13 March 2025. We will be reviewing applications immediately, so if you're interested don't delay in applying for this role. Only candidates that are shortlisted will be contacted.
