Brief Overview

The CNC machine operator plays a pivotal role in utilizing design programs and software that work in tandem with the machines to create an automated process for product manufacturing. The CNC Operator calculates the necessary material quantities, adjusts operating speeds based on vibrations and sounds indicating potential malfunctions, and inspects fabricated parts to ensure they meet specifications. This includes maintaining equipment cleanliness and functionality, replacing parts as needed, and overseeing overall machine operation.

Main Responsibilities and Duties

  • Precision drilling and tapping of various materials
  • Maintenance and operation of all factory machinery
  • Materials cutting and shaping including plastic, aluminum, MDF, and steel
  • Maintaining a clean, organized workspace free from excess materials and debris
  • Organizing and managing sacrificial sheets
  • Ensuring accurate tool usage and replacement
  • Maintaining 100% accuracy with dibond panels featuring no sharp or burried angles
  • Material racking management
  • Providing weekly reports on material levels
  • Demonstrating leadership skills
  • Operating the forklift
  • Measuring custom elements requiring CNC machining
  • Performing warehouse duties when the CNC is not busy
  • On-site visits as needed
  • Developing innovative work practices and improving processes
  • Interpreting blueprints and technical documents
  • Cutting components into precision parts
  • Programming new orders using G-code
  • Tooling changes and maintenance
  • Monitoring and managing material stock levels and reordering
  • Loading and unloading raw materials safely
  • Complying with OH&S and WH&S regulations
  • Using gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
  • Understanding and editing G-code programming
  • Properly deploying and using inserts, fixtures, and tooling
  • Performing daily cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery
  • Adhering to company policies, specifications, and instructions
  • Liaising with suppliers and materials companies
  • Ability to maneuver and handle large sheets
  • Recognizing and addressing suboptimal machine performance and implementing improvements
  • Monitoring drill bit condition and replacing worn-out bits
