At BlueScope, we're seeking passionate, future-focused students eager to begin their engineering careers. Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is offering Electrical Engineering Cadetships starting January 2026.

The Cadetship program combines paid work with study, providing a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth. Cadets will attend university one day a week and work part-time during the study period, starting with casual work in the first year if applying straight from Year 12, then transitioning to full-time university attendance.

What Will You Do?

You will work under the guidance of experienced electrical engineers and tradespeople, gaining exposure to equipment and the production lifecycle. Your role involves designing and managing improvements to manufacturing assets, supporting your path to obtaining a Certificate III in Electrotechnology and studying Engineering at university. You will participate in rotations across departments, experiencing various electrical tasks, including designing electrical machinery and plant maintenance, to find your ideal fit within BlueScope.

We welcome students from all backgrounds who are eager to challenge themselves and contribute innovative ideas. To be successful, you should:

  • Be a Year 12 student planning to study Electrical Engineering at the University of Wollongong (UOW), or be a current university student in your first or second year, considering transferring to Electrical Engineering at UOW.
  • Be interested in hands-on work that impacts the world and helps shape the future.
