Overview

VR General Practitioner - sea change - Nowra region - teaching practice

Role: VR General Practitioner in a teaching practice affiliated with RACGP/ACRRM and the University of Wollongong for medical student teaching. Location: Nowra area, Illawarra region (Nowra area for coastal location); employer: Illawarra Mercury.

Responsibilities
  • Full time role with rostered weekend work (approximately 1 weekend per month).
  • Provide patient care in a bulk-billing practice with a clinical mentor and induction period.
  • Utilise dedicated treatment room services with nurses (wound dressings, immunisations, spirometry, Doppler, ECGs, INR clinic).
  • Deliver chronic disease management and mental health support with practice nurses and a mental health nurse.
  • Collaborate on maternity/shared care arrangements with obstetricians and hospital maternity services; telehealth specialist consultations supported.
  • Perform procedural treatments (minor excisions, biopsies, removal of foreign bodies, Implanon insertion, IV fluids, catheterisation, plaster application, IV antibiotics, allergy desensitisation, wedge resections, nail removals, suturing, resuscitation and stabilization as needed).
  • Contribute to teaching and Fellowship preparation with a clinical mentor; participate in the accredited RACGP/ACRRM training program and university teaching partnerships.
Essential Criteria
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Vocational Registration (FRACGP | FACRRM | FRNZCGP) and full Australian work rights.
  • General Practice experience in Australia.
  • Passion and commitment to providing a high level of care to patients.
