Role Overview

We are seeking a friendly and organized Medical Receptionist to join our growing healthcare team at Bendigo Doctors. In this role, you will work at the front desk of our medical clinic and assist our patients and other visitors. Your primary duties will include greeting and checking in patients, answering questions, collecting patient co-pays, processing paperwork, and scheduling appointments. You will also help keep our records and work areas clean and organized, and ensure our office provides a welcoming environment for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Open and close clinic as per set procedure
  • Greet patients and other callers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Make appointments for patients
  • Ensure medical records are managed confidentially and efficiently
  • Accurately process patient payments via cash, EFTPOS, and direct bill transaction
  • Invoice Medicare, Private Health Funds, TAC, Workcover
  • Knowledge of the MBS schedule and correct billing procedures
  • Deal with referring doctors, hospital staff, pharmacists, etc. courteously and helpfully
  • Attend to patient inquiries
  • Check and handle internal emails
  • Fill in the roster when staff are away, on holidays and sick leave
  • Maintain the reception waiting area and consulting rooms tidy, including spill cleanup if necessary
  • Ensure the accurate storage and retrieval of patient and practice records with scanning, faxing, and filing of documents
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient personal and financial information at all times
  • Complete recalls
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the medical centre
  • Exceptional customer service and teamwork skills
Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team
  • Experience with Medical software (Best Practice / Medical Director)
  • Demonstrated strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including multitasking
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality patient service
  • At least 1 year experience as a Medical Receptionist in a medical practice
Required Documentation
  • Current Police Check
  • Current Working with Children clearance
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificate
  • Immunisation Record
  • Driving Licence/ Photo ID
