Casual Position Overview

Home Support Workers help our clients with:

  • Personal care such as showering, grooming, or assistance with dressing.
  • Social support with companionship or attending to community activities and appointments.
  • Capacity-building activities to help clients learn new skills or increase independence.
  • Domestic assistance such as meal preparation, grocery shopping, or light housekeeping.
  • Recording attendance through a smartphone app, as well as a summary of tasks completed.
Requirements
  • Must be able to converse in both English and Italian to engage with the client.
  • Must have own registered and insured car, as well as a Victorian Driver's Licence.
  • The ideal candidate is proactive in supporting an individual with unique needs and preferences in daily living activities.
  • Commit to work arrangements required to attend to the physical, psychological, and social support needs of our clients. We offer flexibility for work within school hours with the casual position.
  • We aim to roster with permanent shifts; reliability and clear communication are integral to thriving in this role.
Home Support Workers Are Required To Have
  • National Police Check (less than a year old if not NDIS Worker Screening Check).
  • Victorian issued Driver's Licence.
  • Comprehensively insured, registered, and well-maintained car.
  • Certificate III in Individual Support or a similar discipline. (Aged Care, Disability, Home and Community Care, Personal Assistance)
  • Current First Aid and CPR qualifications.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check or Working with Children Check is advantageous.
Remuneration

Good Works for Australia pays SCHADS award wages with generous allowances pro rata to the jobs attended for casual rates of a home support worker. Remuneration is divided into base rate for disability and aged care services, and then the allowances and reimbursements.

Selection Criteria
  • Must be able to converse in both English and Italian to engage with the client.
  • Registered, road-worthy, and insured vehicle.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform tasks described in the position overview.
  • Alignment with company values.
  • Ability to meet compliance and qualification criteria referred to in the requirements.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
