Mount Gambier Technical College: Shaping the Future of Technical Education in South Australia

Mount Gambier Technical College will be a visionary institution that aims to revolutionize technical education in South Australia. The State Government is investing in Technical Colleges that will set the standard for excellence in their design, learning environment and delivery of skills-based training for school-enrolled students.

Located in the Education, Training and Research precinct on Wireless Road, set to open in 2026, Mount Gambier Technical College will provide students with access to industry training on a part-time basis while staying enrolled in their home school, It will support not only public students from across the Limestone Coast Region, but will be open to students from the private school sector.

Mount Gambier Technical College will have short stay accommodation facilities on site and offer four industry training programs for careers in Agri-tech (for careers in forestry, agriculture and manufacturing), Early Childhood and Education, Health and Social Support, and Multi-trades (for careers as plumbers, builders, electricians).

What you will do:

  • Educational Leadership: Support the development of professional learning environments by strengthening networks between teachers, trainers, industry and employer partners within and beyond Mount Gambier Technical College to foster dialogue, sharing, and constructive feedback to improve educational outcomes for students.
  • Strategic Planning: Lead the implementation of a range of student support strategies including quality career education and guidance, wellbeing for learning and mentoring in the technical college and with employer partners.
  • Positive outcomes: Lead a positive and constructive and working environment that is focused on quality student outcomes.

What you will need:

  • Proven ability to establish sound and effective relationships and communication with staff, students, parents, and training providers to promote professional dialogue and a collaborative working culture resulting in improved educational outcomes for students.
  • Proven ability to lead the designing and delivery of high-quality teaching approaches that foster student engagement and support learner growth.
  • Experience in leading flexible industry pathway curriculum and educational reform including processes to engage community and industry stakeholders to establish pathways for students.
