About the Role

As a Ford Logistics Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless and efficient distribution of all imported vehicles from our global source assembly plants to Australian and New Zealand ports.

Your primary responsibilities will include establishing and meticulously maintaining critical systems, notably the Global Vehicle Distribution Solution (GVDS), and optimizing operational processes to guarantee the on-time delivery of vehicles throughout Australia and New Zealand. Additionally, you will lead various projects focused on enhancing budget efficiency and performance.

This position reports directly to the ANZ Vehicle Logistics Manager and is based in Australia at our International Market Group Product Development Centre in Broadmeadows, Melbourne. The role operates under a hybrid work arrangement, requiring four days in the office. Monthly travel to our Melbourne port and vehicle compounds (located in the Western Suburbs) is essential, with occasional interstate travel also required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years direct experience in logistics or supply chain management, ideally within the transport industry
    • Logistics qualification, Engineering degree, International Business/commerce bachelor or similar would be highly desirable but not essential
      • Proficient in advanced analytical and computer skills, including expertise in Excel, Visio, and project management software.
        • Exceptional English communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and convey information to both local and international colleagues.
          • Demonstrated strong project management competencies, including effective team coordination and robust problem-solving abilities.
            • Proven ability to lead and contribute effectively within cross-functional teams.
              • Adept at performing effectively and maintaining composure in high-pressure environments.
                • Possesses a meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks.
                  • Highly independent and proactive worker, consistently demonstrating initiative in achieving objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Track and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) for outbound logistics services, working closely with appointed carriers.
    • Develop and implement robust processes to monitor and control the end-to-end vehicle distribution from global source assembly plants to destination ports.
      • Identify and implement improvements to optimize budget adherence and enhance delivery performance.
        • Oversee and maintain the Global Vehicle Distribution System (GVDS) for the Australia and New Zealand markets.
          • Establish and maintain a reliable and accurate system for providing daily updates on vehicle status.
            • Develop and manage mechanisms to control inventory aging, including monitoring vehicle holds and coordinating resolutions with key stakeholders.
              • Manage transit damage claims, encompassing issuance, follow-up, and coordination of repairs for new vehicles.
                • Coordinate the resolution of mechanical issues identified in vehicles during the distribution process.
                  • Address and resolve operational issues in collaboration with car carriers and yard management suppliers.
                    • Coordinate daily freight movements to dealers and vehicle compounds.
                      • Conduct regular safety and compound audits to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
                        • Act as a primary liaison with internal departments (Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Marketing & Sales) and external suppliers
