About the Role

As an Auto Electrician, you will service and repair specialist rail machinery, including mobile Flashbutt Welders and heavy plant equipment. This hands-on, field-based role is vital for keeping rail projects on track across the Pilbara. You will diagnose electrical faults, work with computer-controlled systems, and uphold safety and quality standards in both field and workshop environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and troubleshoot complex electrical/electronic systems in mobile rail machinery.
  • Diagnose faults in control systems, vehicle tracking, CCTV, and communications equipment.
  • Operate diagnostic tools including scan tools, multimeters, and load testers.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on Flashbutt Welders.
  • Service and repair heavy mobile plant in depot and remote locations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete maintenance records and documentation accurately.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Australian-recognised Auto Electrician Trade Certificate (NSW MVTC or WA equivalent).
  • WA Electrical Licence.
  • Current HR licence (or ability to obtain).
  • Strong diagnostic experience, including use of scan tools.
  • Experience with PLC systems, power generation, and fixed plant (highly regarded).
  • Computer literacy and ability to record accurate maintenance data.
  • Ability to work safely in hot, remote, and dynamic environments.
  • Experience in rail or heavy vehicle maintenance.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment medical and ongoing drug & alcohol testing.
