Role & Impact

We are looking for a Staff Data Engineer to take ownership of Blinq's data engineering infrastructure. This is a great opportunity to lead and develop Blinq's data practices, and maximise business impact.

At this exciting stage of our growth, we want to ensure our data is scalable, reliable, and ready for the future. With ownership over our data and analytics platforms, you will positively affect team member growth and productivity. You will work closely with Product, Marketing, Sales and Engineering teams, collaborating with technical and non-technical peers to drive meaningful change. What You'll Do

• Become the strategic owner and technical leader of our data and analytics platforms
• Build and optimise data pipelines to support ETL into databases, warehouses, or lakes
• Ensure data quality and accuracy with robust validation and observability
• Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Sales and Engineering to align data systems with business goals
• Drive cross-functional efforts to address data integrity, reporting, and insights
• Document data processes, architecture, and workflows for clarity and continuity

What You'll Bring

• Strong collaborator who can understand stakeholder needs and develop a strategy accordingly
• Excellent communicator, capable of advocating for data-driven practices and internal education
• Extensive experience with SQL, data modeling tools (e.g., Dataform), and languages like Python or R
• Hands-on with a modern event data stack and tools such as Segment, Amplitude, BigQuery, Looker Studio, Google Analytics, AWS/GCP
• Vision for building a scalable, reliable analytics platform with a roadmap to achieve it
• Solid background in mathematics, statistics, and data visualization
• Experience in MarTech and data systems supporting machine learning workflows is desirable
• High proficiency in A/B testing and event system design is highly desirable
