The Opportunity
We are seeking a Consultant to join our national Hazardous Materials & Occupational Hygiene team. As a licensed asbestos assessor, certified occupational hygienist, senior toxicologist or laboratory professional, you will assess hazardous materials and chemical, physical and biological hazards in the workplace, protecting workers' health and providing guidance to clients to anticipate, recognise, evaluate, and control risks associated with those hazardous materials.
You will be based in our Melbourne office and play a key role in enhancing environmental health and safety (EHS) standards within workplaces, safeguarding the health and wellbeing of workers and clients alike, while meeting regulatory and best practice requirements.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Conducting Asbestos and HazMat audits in commercial buildings, industrial facilities and residential properties including:
- Regulatory required condition and re-inspection audits
- Regulatory and investigative pre-demolition / Refurbishment Assessments
- Developing asbestos monitoring and remediation strategies, issuing clearances
- Providing technical guidance on sites during asbestos and lead removal projects
- Conducting indoor air quality, mould and moisture assessments
- Conducting occupational hygiene assessments for a range of contaminants including dust, noise, chemicals, etc.
- Analysing data and preparing technical reports with support from senior staff, including technical specialists and Certified Occupational Hygienists
- Supporting the team with strategy and business development
About You
You have tertiary qualifications in a scientific field, environmental management/science, health and safety, or occupational hygiene. Ideally, you possess:
- Initiative and competence in the technical aspects of the role, ready to embrace new challenges
- Strong report writing ability and verbal and written communication skills
- Personal, client and project management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to work remotely occasionally, with occasional weekends and overtime as required
- Experience in measuring and assessing occupational exposure to hazards in the workplace or conducting asbestos and hazmat surveys
- Asbestos Assessors License highly regarded
- A full Australian Driver's License if required to travel to client sites
