Deputy Principal: Teaching & Learning and Religious Education leader — Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools
Role Description/Criteria: The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate:
- an understanding, commitment, and support for the values and ethos of the Catholic school and the mission of the Catholic Church
- a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children in accordance with Child Safe standards
- how to foster and develop appropriate professional relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider school community
- how they collaboratively lead and work in teams with flexibility, creativity, passion and enthusiasm
- how they view themselves as a lifelong learner, which they foster in all
- an extensive knowledge of MACS' Vision of Instruction and Engagement documents
- an extensive knowledge of explicit instruction, cognitive load theory, gradual release model, daily review, full participation techniques etc
- an ability to gather, analyse and use data (formal and informal) to improve teacher pedagogy and students outcomes
- the capacity to show initiative, creativity and to think and act strategically
- how they ensure and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing improvement
- an ability to work at both a strategic and operational level
- exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well to staff and community members
- excellent oral, verbal and written communication skills
- exceptional organisational and time management skills, with an ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and manage competing tasks with a high level of attention to detail
- enthusiasm for working in a team environment, where being adaptable and having a sense of humour is essential
This is a full time ongoing teacher position at St Elizabeth's, with a three year appointment as Deputy Principal/Teaching and Learning leader with the additional role of Religious Education leader.
The position will commence Term 1, 2026.
Applicants are also required to:
- be Catholic (a certificate of one of the sacraments will be required)
- demonstrate a commitment to Catholic education, and an understanding of the leadership role in Catholic education
- demonstrate a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children
- have experience in a formally appointed leadership role within a Catholic Education
- have current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching
- have academic qualifications additional to initial teacher education (Master's degree or five year equivalent)
- have relevant, appropriate and substantial educational experience, including classroom teaching and leadership positions
- have relevant experience within the last five (5) years in Catholic parish primary schools, or currently in a role associated with and supporting Catholic parish primary schools
- be accredited to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school

Please include three referees; one referee must be your current school Principal.
