The APS 6 Knowledge Management Officer role supports Defence's Health Research Governance framework, reporting to the Assistant Director Research and Partnerships.

Key responsibilities include administration, governance, and business as usual activities, requiring an understanding of research conduct standards.

The Knowledge Management Officer will manage the Defence Health Research inbox, workflow through the Defence Human Research Management System, and make independent decisions on research processes.

This includes interpreting research inquiries related to governance, performing procedural and administrative support work, and engaging with stakeholders to ensure compliance with health research governance processes.

The role provides secretariat support for the Defence Health Research Steering Group.

About our Team

The Directorate oversees strategic Defence health research, including health research governance, research initiatives, and health research dissemination.

We identify and manage health research priorities, engage with internal and external research partners, and undertake health research design, delivery, and support.

Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you must have extensive experience in administration, research governance, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of research conduct standards, including the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and the National Statement on the Ethical Conduct of Human Research.
  • Experience with administrative tasks, maintaining databases, information systems, and records according to information management policies.
  • Ability to engage positively with stakeholders, manage requests and queries professionally.
  • Experience interpreting and complying with relevant health research governance requirements.
  • Collaborative team environment experience, working with professionals to support team objectives.
  • Secretariat experience supporting high-level committees/steering groups.
