The Opportunity

To support our innovation roadmap and continued growth, we are seeking a hands-on, technically strong Electronics Test and R&D Engineer to join our team.

This is a multifaceted role blending responsibilities across electronics R&D, embedded systems design, and testing. You'll be at the forefront of developing, assembling, and validating the next generation of AgriFood and sustainability-focused technologies. From designing and debugging STM32-based embedded systems to developing test setups and ensuring quality compliance, your work will be critical in bringing robust, field-ready products to life.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, appreciates working across the product lifecycle from concept to test, and is passionate about creating impactful technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development

Develop and debug embedded firmware primarily for STM32 (ARM Cortex-M) microcontrollers in C/C++.

Create and review schematics and PCB layouts in Altium Designer, managing BOMs and libraries.

Integrate sensors, wireless modules, and implement communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, LoRa, BLE, Wi-Fi).

Participate in iterative prototyping and R&D reviews.

Test & Validation

Assemble and test electronics devices to design specifications and quality standards.

Perform functional and performance testing using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analysers, and custom test setups.

Develop and execute system-level testing, validation, and performance tuning plans.

Create and follow structured assembly and testing processes for new and existing products.

Compliance & Quality

Support compliance testing (CE, FCC, C-tick, EMC, EMI, ACMA) for embedded and electronics devices.

Prepare detailed test reports, quality documentation, and user guides.

Conduct troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and refine designs based on test feedback.

Operational Support

Manage inventory of components and finished product stock.

Assist with field installations, rework, repair, and provide production support.

Help maintain SMT production and 3D printing equipment (where experienced).

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Extensive hands-on experience with firmware development for STM32 microcontrollers using C/C++.

Proven expertise using embedded development tools such as STM32CubeIDE, Keil, or IAR.

Strong background in PCB design with Altium Designer, including schematic capture, layout, and BOM management.

Skilled in testing and debugging hardware with oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and other lab instruments.

Deep understanding of electronic components, circuits, low-power design principles, and real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS.

Well-versed in assembly techniques, soldering (including SMT), and careful PCB handling.

Adept at reading and interpreting schematics, BOMs, and detailed technical drawings.

Excellent problem-solving abilities, along with strong documentation and communication skills.

Highly Regarded

Familiarity with wireless technologies (LoRa, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE) and IoT protocols (MQTT, Modbus, CAN).

Experience with SMT equipment, 3D printing, or rapid prototyping.

Knowledge of sensor integration, environmental monitoring, or power management in battery-powered systems.

Understanding of compliance standards and hands-on experience supporting certification testing.

Use of version control systems (Git) and working in Agile environments.
