Overview

Join the Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program (BHTSP) and be part of an infrastructure safety improvement initiative. We're building a continuous applicant pool to support this vital program. Applications are welcome at any time, with the first round of recruitment closing on 1 October 2025.

The role leads a team of professionals in planning and implementing effective communication and project engagement activities to support delivery of the Queensland Transport and Roads Infrastructure Program (QTRIP) and related activities. You will provide strategic communications support to senior management and staff for community engagement, media relations, issues management, public affairs and stakeholder relationship management.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and drive a team of communication and project engagement professionals to research, develop, deliver and report on strategies to engage or inform the community about the infrastructure program and related initiatives, including politically sensitive projects.
  • Initiate and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, service providers, the public and different levels of government to deliver QTRIP outcomes and goals.
  • Develop the strategy and operational plan for the communication and project engagement teams; monitor and report on infrastructure program activity and results within agreed timeframes.
  • Support the Regional Director, Leadership and Project teams by managing a high-performance communications team to deliver program and project outcomes in the QTRIP and Division Strategic Plan.
  • Provide high-level strategic communication advice and options to the Regional Director, Leadership team and Project Directors/Manager on QTRIP and related issues.
  • Lead, supervise and develop staff, foster organizational values, manage change and ensure ethical behavior and decision making in a regional environment.
