Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Telecommunications Civil Team Lead with extensive experience in pit and pipe construction, as well as competency in operating excavators. The successful candidate will lead a team of civil technicians, oversee the installation and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure, and ensure the safe and efficient execution of civil works on site. This role is essential for supporting our telecommunications projects by managing civil construction activities from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of civil technicians to ensure high standards of performance, quality, and safety on telecommunications construction projects.
  • Coordinate and manage pit and pipe installation, including trenching, pit digging, and pipe laying, ensuring the timely completion of all tasks.
  • Operate excavators and other heavy equipment as required to facilitate pit and pipe installation and other civil works.
  • Oversee the preparation, set-up, and maintenance of construction sites to ensure compliance with safety standards, including traffic management, signage, and site security.
  • Perform site inspections and quality checks to ensure construction activities comply with project specifications, design plans, and relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to review project plans and resolve any technical or operational issues.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting on progress, project timelines, and any delays or challenges encountered during the course of work.
  • Conduct regular safety briefings and training for the team to minimize risks and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot telecommunications infrastructure, including conduits, ducts, and associated cabling.
  • Oversee the maintenance and proper functioning of excavators, tools, and other equipment used on site.
  • Ensure all civil works documentation is complete, including as-built drawings and daily work logs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in telecommunications civil construction, specifically in pit and pipe installation and excavation.
  • Excavator competency or valid excavation certification/license.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience in managing civil teams.
  • In-depth understanding of telecommunications network infrastructure and civil construction practices.
  • Knowledge of trenching, cable installation, and other civil engineering processes within the telecommunications industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, schematics, and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight project deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Experience with project management software and tools.
  • First aid certification or other relevant safety training.
  • Additional machine operation competencies (e.g., backhoes, loaders, etc.).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials when required.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces or challenging terrain.
