The Role

We are seeking a recent graduate to join our Finance team as an Assistant Accountant in either our Sydney or Melbourne based offices. As a part of our Finance team, you will work in a small team assisting with the end to end accounting, tax and compliance obligations of complex infrastructure projects. The role incorporates debt, equity and investor reporting as well as management of ad hoc commercial matters as they arise.

You will provide support for the following project responsibilities:

Accounting

• Accounts payable / receivable function
• Preparation of monthly / quarterly accounts as required
• Annual Financial statements and tax returns
• Forecast and calculation of equity returns
• Calculation of debt obligations

Budgeting / Investor returns

• Forecast and calculation of equity returns
• Forecast and calculation of debt obligations
• Updating of financial models

Reporting

• Equity board reporting
• Updating lenders of project status and modifications
• Investor financial analysis

Other

• Assisting with ad hoc commercial issues as they arise
• Identify and report opportunities for improvement

About You

Ideal candidates will have a curiosity for learning, an eagerness for a challenge, be a team player and will demonstrate resilience and commitment to the role. You will have:

• Experience in a similar function in an accounting or tax role
• Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel (advanced functions, excluding VBA/Macros)
• Prior experience with accounting software including Technology One, MYOB, and SAP concur.

• Ability to prioritise tasks (balance day-to-day business needs with business improvement programs and other ad-hoc requests) and meet deadlines
• Organised (ability to plan and be proactive, manage time efficiently)

• Resilience and always behaving in an ethical manner
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Has a presence and integrity to earn respect from colleagues
