IT Specialist - Card Payments Ready to keep the engine of digital banking running — and help us take it to the next level? Apply now and bring your expertise to where it matters most. As part of our Digital Banking and Payments team, you'll be the go-to expert for card payments and transaction processing systems. This is a role where your knowledge of Visa, FPA, and payment schemes will directly keep our customers' transactions running smoothly — and help us adapt to ever-changing industry standards.
From supporting our transaction switch to implementing new card scheme requirements and fraud prevention measures, you'll be hands-on in ensuring the speed, security, and compliance of every payment.
Responsibilities- Provide 2nd and 3rd line application support for card payments systems, including transaction switch and scheme integrations
- Analyse and troubleshoot transaction issues, identifying fixes or vendor escalations
- Collaborate with vendors, business SMEs, and internal teams to ensure fraud detection, token assurance, and related processes meet regulatory and customer expectations
- Enhance card processing systems to align with strategic digital initiatives
- Support transition to tokenisation and smarter fraud monitoring
- Support releases, vendor fixes, and bug investigations
- Provide operational support for critical incidents and outages (including on-call)
- Knowledge and/or understanding of the Payments Industry, including scheme rules and laws (e.g., Epayments Code, Bpay Scheme, BECS, COBA)
- Strong working knowledge of card payments, Visa, FPA and understanding of scheme compliance updates
- Background in financial services, ideally in a digital or retail banking environment
- Strong analytical mindset with experience working with third-party vendors and external stakeholders
- Understanding of Agile practices and incident/change management processes
- Resilience and adaptability with the ability to manage change, conflicts and resolve problems
- Well-developed communications and stakeholder engagement capabilities
- Strong time management and organisational skills, including the ability to effectively allocate work to a team
- Ability to translate a technical issue into a business context
