Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner

This part-time contract role runs until August 2026, working 28 hours per week (4 days). Location: Uniting's Counselling and Mediation Centre in Wollongong. Availability to work in the centre on Wednesdays.
Responsibilities- Provide Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) to families post-separation who are experiencing conflict and are unable to reach agreements about children or property.
- Deliver FDR through online video appointments, legally-assisted mediation and child-inclusive practice.
- Work with a dynamic team of FDRPs and therapists to support families holistically.
- Accredited by the Australian Attorney-General's Department (AGD) as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, or eligible for accreditation. If unsure of eligibility, contact the AGD Practitioner Accreditation Unit. Uniting will require evidence of eligibility.
- Tertiary qualifications in law, psychology or social work.
- Understanding of the process and purpose of child-inclusive mediation practice.
- Knowledge of family law legislation.
- Knowledge and understanding of community services, especially those relating to families experiencing relationship difficulties.
- Understanding of child protection issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as contribute to the team; excellent communication, organisation and writing skills; computer literacy; ability to meet program-specific client targets.
- To have a career that matters in an organisation that focuses on making an impact; training and mentoring with the opportunity to improve and learn new skills.
- Up to 4 ex-gratia days (in addition to annual leave).
