This is a fixed-term full-time role based in our Sydney Newsroom (Pyrmont).

What you'll do as a News Producer:
  • Be an integral part of our editorial team, ensuring the success of each broadcast with your newsroom experience.
  • Manage control room and lineup skills to craft compelling news stories.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of news productions, ensuring seamless execution and high standards.
  • Lineup news bulletins with precision and attention to detail.
  • Contribute to editorial decisions by identifying and pitching stories that resonate with our audience.
  • Write, produce, and edit engaging stories that captivate viewers.
  • Create news content for digital and social channels to expand reach and impact.
  • Manage story development, script approvals, graphics, and animations from concept to broadcast.
  • Lead the production of news special events, showcasing our commitment to excellence.
  • Manage time pressures and meet multiple daily deadlines with organizational skills and resilience.
What are we looking for in a News Producer? What's important?
  • In-depth knowledge of current affairs and issues relevant to our audience.
  • Minimum 3-5+ years of newsroom experience.
  • Degree in Journalism or related field.
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in control room operations and lineup management.
  • Tech-savvy with knowledge of iNews and Avid MediaCentral preferred.
  • Willingness to work weekends and early/late shifts.
  • Proficiency in video journalism (VJ) or shooting is highly advantageous.
