Unique Opportunity in Mining Geology
About the RoleThis is a dynamic role that offers a blend of technical challenges and cultural experiences with our global mining company.
- The Principal Geologist will provide guidance and assistance to the operations team in mining geology, drilling, sampling and assaying procedures.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing geological support to the mine operations, including evaluating the geological potential and resource accuracy of existing operations.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Mine Geologists in geological systems, including planning model creation and end-of-month reporting.
- Oversee 3D geological modeling and block modeling using appropriate software.
- Ensure corporate QA/QC policy and procedures are followed.
- Define and optimize required drilling/data collection for geology, geotechnical, hydrogeology and metallurgy.
- Manage contractors and service providers for all aspects of operations and projects.
- Develop and train operational personnel to broaden their skill base.
- Influence and contribute to the larger Harmony technical and operational teams.
To succeed in this role, you should be a highly experienced engineering professional with a relevant tertiary qualification in Geology.
- 8-10 years of experience covering exploration, production geology and project study.
- Experience with mining and geological software packages (e.g. Deswik, Surpac, Datamine).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Flexible working practices.
